Announcement

22 Feb 2008

This year marks 10 years making FS P-38s. After careful consideration I believe I will retire.

The past year I have been struggling with what to do with my models. I really like FSX, but I am generally dissatisfied by the look of my models in it (FS9 model issues). The question in my mind has been “to update, or not to update.” After a brief and highly unsuccessful attempt to update one of my models to native FSX format, ultimately, my decision came: it’s time to retire.

I am by no means disappearing from Flight Simulation.  I plan to make an occasional sound set here and there and perhaps do a minor maintenance release or repaint on the side. Taking a cue from the "Book of Milton" I may still “tinker” now and then, but I have decided I just don’t want to spend the time to learn all the new things to keep up with the pace of progress (FSX, etc.). Perhaps with some future version of FS and future versions of modeling tools I will come out of retirement, but I doubt it.  All things considered, this is a just good time to stop.

I am also not letting up on my obsession for the P-38. In fact, I hope to continue my quest to photograph all remaining P-38s (yes, I know there are some I wil never get to!) and update this website with more photos, articles, etc.

So with that, my P-38M update is my last major work for FS.  It is fitting that this is my final model, as it was also the last Lockheed P-38.
